 Малое — это зародыш большого. Малые причины часто порождают большие последствия. «Малый камушек повозку опрокидывает» — как верны эти слова! Большой камень виден издали, и возница его объедет, а маленький камушек незаметен и может натворить больших бед. Один просто разболтавшийся или сломавшийся винтик может вывести из строя всю машину. Одна искра может вызвать большой пожар.

Подобное происходит и со многими другими мелкими с виду вещами в жизни человека. Так, всего одна мысль, один мимолетный помысл может смутить сознание человека, нарушить мир в душе и расстроить его; всего одно слово может пронзить сильней, чем острие меча, и встать стеной, разделяющей старых друзей, хороших соседей, верных супругов или детей от родителей и братьев между собой; одна маленькая ошибка может запутать и закрутить вещи так, что их долго нельзя будет исправить. Один укол иголкой или колючкой, если не обратить на него должного внимания, может вызвать инфекцию и даже смерть.

Жестоко обманывается тот, кто не обращает внимания и своевременно не устраняет мелких повреждений, пусть они явно и не мешают его работе. Человек может веселиться и смеяться даже тогда, когда страдает какой-нибудь болезнью. Но если вовремя не обратит на нее внимания и не примет серьезных мер, то незначительная болезнь разовьется, и запоздалое лечение не даст результата: небольшая царапина или ранка могут привести к болезни всего тела.
