Неделя мясопустная, о Страшнем суде. Глас 2
             «Мне ведомо, что близок день суда,
              И на суде нас уличат во многом…
             Но Божий суд не есть ли встреча с Богом?
             Где будет суд? – Я поспешу туда!


                                        Я пред Тобой, о, Господи, склонюсь,
                                        И, отрешась от жизни быстротечной,
                                        Не к Вечности ль Твоей я приобщусь,
                                       Хоть эта Вечность будет мукой вечной?» [138]

Третья подготовительная неделя перед Великим Постом называется «мясопустною», или «сырною», а по народному – «масленица». В эту неделю уже нельзя есть мясо, но еще разрешено вкушать молоко, яйца, рыбу, сыр, масло. По старому русскому обычаю, на масленицу пекутся блины. Воскресенье «мясопустной недели», соответственно евангельскому чтению, носит название «Неделя о Страшном суде» (Мф. 25. 31-46). Этим чтением Церковь призывает грешников покаяться и делать добрые дела, напоминая, что за все грехи нам придется отвечать.
